Free LinkedIn post formatter

The LinkedIn post formatter is a free tool that cleans up line breaks, shows roughly where the feed will cut your post with "see more", and counts characters against LinkedIn's 3,000-character limit. It runs in your browser, needs no login and never sends your text anywhere.

We cut our onboarding from 41 days to 9. The fix was not a new tool. It was deleting four steps nobody owned. Here is the list we used to find them.

How it works

Paste or write your post. The formatter trims trailing spaces, collapses runs of blank lines into one, and keeps your paragraph breaks so the post reads the same when you paste it into LinkedIn.

The preview marks an approximate "see more" point. LinkedIn does not publish where the cut falls, and it changes with screen size and line breaks, so treat it as a guide: the first two lines should make the right reader want to expand the post.

The counter compares your post with the 3,000-character limit LinkedIn documents for posts. Longer pieces belong in a LinkedIn article or newsletter instead.

Frequently asked questions

What is the character limit for a LinkedIn post?

LinkedIn's help center says the character limit for a post is 3,000 characters. If you need more space, LinkedIn suggests writing an article instead.

Where does LinkedIn cut a post with "see more"?

LinkedIn does not document the exact cut. It depends on the device, screen width and line breaks. Write so that your first two lines work on their own, and use the preview here as an estimate.

Does this tool store or send my post?

No. Formatting and counting happen in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to ContentOS or anyone else.
